I cant edit a mesh from another blend because it has an empty?

I have a bathroom I’m modeling and I have a several meshes like potted plants and faucets I want to bring over from a another blend file. When I do shift F1 append, it arrives with an empty, also with that object selected I cant enter edit mode.

What do I need to do to fix this? I feel its probably something simple I’m overlooking :slight_smile:

Since your importing it or appending it, you may have to make it local. Select the object and then go to object, (next to view, select, and add…) and chose Make Local>selected object. The empty may be parented to it. You should be able to just delete it, or chose parent>clear parent.
