I can't go into edit mode

Ok. I’m currently in the shading tab under lamps and then suddenly, I press tab and it won’t take me to edit mode. I keep trying, load my project again, and restart my system.

I don’t know what in the world happened. Did I press a button accidentally or click something?

Help would be appreciated.

Um, if you’re looking at the lamp tab then, perchance, you have a lamp selected? Edit mode dosn’t work on those; you have to select (or, have active, anyway) a mesh or curve or some-such.
