How can I fix this sharp look? I’ve tried a lot of things but nothing works.
That’s happening because there are too many edge loops pressed together in that area. Select and dissolve some loops, and it should look fine.
Going to give you some advice here that doesn’t solve this particular issue, but goes to the larger approach:
Airplane windows aren’t just cut into a seamless one-piece fuselage. They are panels, with frames. If you model in a similar manner that an airplane is built, it won’t be nearly as much of an issue.
So it would be better if I modeled it as a separate piece and put it on top, right?
Yes, exactly. If you just delete some face from the body, you’ll make a rough hole shape. This will get rid of the smoothing issue.
Then model the window and frame separately, move it into place. It will cover the unsightly hole edges, and also look more correct.
I fixed the problem by doing it on the body with what @DawnFilms said, but I will try yours too. Because that’s what it should be. Thanks a lot
Cheers - Dawn’s advice was a good tip on why it breaks like that, so keep that one in your toolbox as well.
