It’s a Viewsonic VP2768 100% SRGB calibrated monitor. But changing it to rec709 gave it much whiter whites rather than yellowish. Not sure whats actually happening there. And in Blenders color management there appears to only be the option for SRGB… Is that because it does not detect my monitor as a real Rec709 compliant monitor?

When you calibrated your display, what white point did you set? That will drive the appearance of white.
