I don't want to render the backside of an image plane

Is there a setting to turn off what I would think is backface culling. It seems to be off by default in view but an image on a plane shows the backside, and renders it also.
Is there a way to stop rendering the backside of a face?

I composite animation over live action and when I rotate the eyes “behind” a head (away from the camera) I would like it not to render the eyes. (I can do it with extra mask objects and composite but its tedious)

Thank you in advance.

For cycles… (Add, Input, Geometry Node) If the face is backfacing value is 1, so in this case the mix shader evaluates to 100% transparent.

OH man, You’re really calling me out. I’ve been holding out on learning cycles…(mostly because its so intimidating (by the looks of nodes you sent can you blame me?! ha ))
Thank you for taking the time. I may have to bite the bullet.
