I just want to mirror the right foot animation to the left but Blender doesn't work that way?

I don’t have an issue either. I think he may be trying to copy the entire animation at once instead of each key frame for the bones he wants mirrored. But since he didn’t include his workflow, we are guessing.

When being precise offers only aggravation, the function should be coded differently. If you select the R bones to be flip them then why does the user need to also select the L bones for the function to work? This is needlessly redundant. That is why I could not make sense of this additional needless step. It doesn’t reflect other operations when you mirror X you don’t have to select the vertex or bones that is gonna be flipped it just does.

I guess I’m too pragmatic for this crazy software.

Thanks everyone for helping me figure it out.

This is is very strange, it’s the second time that i have noticed you bring up a problem you then get help and advise and then you credit yourself for the SOLUTION?
And for that reason i am out !

Hah, wow. Just throws a temper tantrum and blames it on the software due to lack of understanding. User error. Sad. People like this get nowhere in life.

Thanks BA for the handy block/ignore feature in the user settings!

I’m not crediting myself anything. maybe I am doing that wrong as well. There is no “Ah I get it, thanks for your help, nothing further is needed” box to check. I just take all the data from all the those who helped me and write what I learned as the solution. Why would I keep having other keep providing my more help and support when none more is needed?

After I lost a month with a bug from an addon it took me additional months once I fixed the bug to mentally recover as I was going through a depression caused by the pandemic. I beg of you to please take kindness from my foolish impatience. I don’t want to lose any of you because I misbehaved. I offer my deepest apology.

It turned out I was losing my mind, I believed for some foolish reason that there was no reason to select the mirrored bones by my flawed logic. I never need to select mirrored vertex or bones. And made a complete ass out of myself. I just want to apologize for my foolish behavior.

If there’s a bug with your “paste flipped” function, you could switch on symmetry in pose mode and keyframe both legs in the same positions, then just offset one leg’s keyframes so the legs are doing opposite poses.

thank you ever so much as this helped me figure out my own version of the problem after many hours
I’ve encountered this many times before and I just thought it was an infuriating bug

it’s the naming. I was trying to mirror a whole animation (left hand range of motion to right) and since “mirror pose” in the 3d window worked fine, I did not suspect the naming convention to be the problem at all.
I like my bones to end in “_left” or “_right” and for some reason paste flipped doesn’t like this, after changing the suffixes to _L/_R like in that link it solved the whole issue for me.

I can’t believe this was the solution the whole time, as like I said - copypasting mirrored poses works completely fine, just not paste flipped keyframes.
Perhaps _left / _ right should be added to the function as I’ve ran into this issue too many times to count

tl:dr TRY CHANGING LEFT AND RIGHT SUFFIXES
