I made a manifest file now the addon uploader wont accept the zip

recently i created this importer addon for personal use but then decided to share it publicly to the addon website. one of the steps it asked to contain in the zip file was the manifest file and yes i did create the file and had to do many attempts to make it function properly when installing onto blender. so i opened the page to upload the extension to the official website (Blender Extensions) and got an error warning me i was missing the manifest file which i clearly included.

The image of the screenshot shows that im missing that one file but i double checked that i had it installed onto the addon’s file structure. (yea the zip isnt uploaded because the error somehow removed it)

It clearly works as it should’ve been in Blender but i cant seem to find a reason why when uploading im getting this error. Im really new to uploading an addon so any assistance would be greatly apreciated!

Share addon’s .zip archive with us, so we spot possible issues with it’s structure or with the manifest file.

It needs to be “blender_manifest.toml” and should include all the relevant information as written in the docs.

thx for replying. sorry i cant upload the addon zip file due to my acc limitations but i can provide the gdrive link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b3whYhy8JUPL0fXSnjJfqRUMTJb0QLDB/view?usp=sharing

thx. in the zip file its named as so and also the file extension is as ‘.toml’. Do note i have updated the script and successfully ended up loading the addon to the website. I still will appreciate any further assistance with improving my manifest file the next time i create a new addon.

Seems fine. One idea I have is that maybe zip name should match the extension name exactly. If it won’t work and there’s no particular error showing up, you can try to report it to Blender directly - https://projects.blender.org/infrastructure/extensions-website/issues

The issue might be that your contains a folder instead of having all of the files directly in the root of the zip. So in your case just remove the “upkg_blend” foldder.

alr then thanks!

what I’m aware about is that the addon folder must be the same name in the manifest and seemed to have worked that way and wasn’t affected by the zip filename. Thx for dropping this tip!
