Last summer I worked in a deli of a supermarket. In November I was terminated over virtually nothing. I made a joke about turning possums loose in the store the next day, and they not only took me seriously, but if I went to the video store next door and any employee saw me they would actually go into lockdown.
The other night the store was robbed after hours. I have been informed that I am a suspect, and I know that evidence will be stacked against me, because the entire police force has registered contempt towards me.
The police investigating the case are among the most corrupt police force in the state of Missouri. Add to that the fact that one of the officers has hated me since the seventh grade and that they have altered evidence to protect friends and screw over the ones they hate, and I’m pretty much screwed.
The question is, should I continue to lay low (they haven’t brought me in for questioning because no one really knows my whereabouts, which is a coincidence, because I didn’t even know I was a suspect until right before bed last night) until they catch the guy, or should I let them get me, even though it’s a 98% guarantee that they will stack the evidence to send me away for years?
by laying low as you call it you are making yourself an even bigger suspect.
You are innocent untill proven guilty.
So they can act however they want and they can say whatever theyy want. one thhing remains, you’re innocence.
I would seek some legal counceling if I were you, they can surely help you.
Maybe you should go to thhe police and tell them what you heard and how ridiculous it is, but that’s a little farfetched.
Go on with your life… They don’t have anything to support a case against you… You’re innocent…
It’s not coincidence… If they had, they would allready call you for questioning… and even if they call you for questioning, that doesn’t mean you are going to get arrested!!!
So, you made a joke… Does that mean that everybody that makes jokes is a criminal???
Behave naturaly, as you always behave…
Stay calm and don’t do anything stupid… Like dissappearing or something…
koudejongen is right… It wouldn’t harm to get some legal advise from a lawyer…
Please post here whenever is possible so that we know everything is o.k.
You probably don’t want my advice but here it is: You need to establish an alibi. As many as you can. What they are looking for in the courtroom is evidence. If the prosecutor has none, and you at least have an alibi, you should be fine. besides, if you didn’t do it, it is going to be pretty hard for them to establish that you did “beyond a reasonable doubt”.
i agree with all the post that have been made you dont need to lay low. that would just make you look guilty and if you didnt have anything to do with the robby than just go about your life as usuall
if your inosent a good laywser will always save your ass. i know this cos i have a friend who has a very dodgy past and the poice blame every computer crime that points to his town on him (they conviscated his computer more than once) he hasent been involved in that for years and years. but he always uses laywers because he too doesnt trust the cops.
good point alltaken. but we dont have opossums in guyana so they are not public enemy number one here. we have to worry about jaguars eating our pets here in guyana.
dwmitch just move here to guyana and you wont have to worry about going to jail all you have to do is pay your way out of it. (police in guyana make good money for what they don’t do…)
Thanks, guys. I found out that it was the ATM that was robbed, and those things always have cameras in them, so that hopefully clears me. Just in case, I can recount my every location for that night. The only problem would be on my drive home, where I left at 10:30 PM from my girlfriend’s dad’s, got home at around 11:15, and it only takes an average of twenty minutes to get home. I stopped at a gas station for some water, which tapes and a clerk can verify, but the rest of the time I was on the road alone going slow to allow for a deer encounter. That extra time probably wouldn’t hold up in court, though.
But, with everything else, I should be sittin’ relatively easy. I don’t really have a record. The only thing is failure to yield the right of way resulting in a collision, which was a very minor collision. I just managed to piss off the wrong people.
They don’t like the way I look, they don’t like the way I talk, and they don’t like my sense of humor, so they do everything they can to kill me (take away a man’s job and convince others not to hire him and you practically kill him) or banish me, mostly by making me the top suspect in everything that happens around here. By the way, apparantly I’m responsible for the entire Enron fiasco, the sniper attacks, and the Kennedy assassination
Now on a lighter note. I can’t stand possums (the Ozark spelling). I don’t know why so much of my humor revolves around them. The only thing keeping me from running them over on purpose is the fact that I don’t want to risk ruining my tires.
By the way, lbzd210, what is the cost of living like in Guyana? I’d like to go there just for the jaguars. They wouldn’t eat my pets. If I could get the permits, they’d become my pets. I love all things feline and quasi-feline.

the cost of living here in guyana is relativity low i have been looking for an apartment here i have found a couple for $14,000 and $15,000 guyana dollars a month. 14,000 g-dollars is about 75 us dollars it is cheap but food is expensive.
my parents have a jaguar skin on there wall from where it got in to the fence at my dads work and it ate the gaurd dogs. one of the armed gaurds shot it and they got the skin.
yeah but those apartments are small and nasty they dont have any furniture or air conditioning and they are really nasty.
i found an apartment complex that is nice and clean air conditioned and just really really nice apartment but it is $30,000 guyana dollars with is $150 and that is just to much for me. between all my jobs i have. i get 35% of the money made off of a tattoo when i work i do about 6 to 7 tattoo’s a day. on average i make about $15,000 guyana dollars for working 3 days a week. with the computer technition job i dont make that much a week i get about $10,000 dollars a week. and when i get a job for web developement i get paid really good. the last website i built i got $2000 US Dollars but all that money gets shipped to my bank account back in georgia. i make about $100,000 dollars a month here in guyana especial really good money for part time jobs. the average guyanese person make about $40,000 g dollars a month. so i do ok. but if i did get that apartment. i would not have any money for anything else. for me to buy 2 or 3 weeks of food would cost about 40,000 to 50,000 dollars and then i dont have a car here. i am dependant on taxis. that is expensive as well from where i live now to the tattoo parlor cost me $2000 dollars round trip that is $6000 a week and then to my other job it cost $3600 dollars round trip and that is $10,800 a week and so i couldn’t get that apartment. i would have to not goto work or starve to be able to get it. but it aint no big deal i will just have to stay with my mom and Dad for a little while longer.
but i dont have to work today i got today off Yeah i love sick leave…
