i need a draw distance system

hi, i need a draw distance system to optimize my game, like this:

Look @ Kupoman’s LOD, (Level of detail)

the furthest level of detail can be none (no model)

also the camera clipping distance is applicable

How do you use the LOD in the new build? Do you apply LOD for every single object? I’m new to using it.

LOD is for anything the player can get close to with high detail,

So, low poly background objects that never get close, don’t really need it,

small maps ? don’t really need it at all.

Long draw distance + high poly meshes? Give them LOD, and set up a few levels, with the furthest having no polygons at all :smiley:

The page BPR is giving is for showing what the LoD can do and how it works.
It is being worked on, as far as I know, for the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) for Blender. Probably, and hopefully, in 2.69 the LoD will be officially implemented.

I must warn, however, that this feature as given in the link above may have bugs, so don’t completely switch to these build(s) unless you have to.
I have not tested any of the features, so I can’t say how good a level of stability those builds are.
