I need help solving some game problems =(

Hi all  , Here is what I have acomplished so far(not much since I´m a bit lazy  ), it isn´t really a game yet, just a test ( 1,08 kb):

I have some bugs which need correction, but I´m having a little dificult dealing with them, here are some:
1-My charater just crosses walls like a ghost

2-It don´t move in the direction it is currently pointing, it only moves along y axis instead, I´m sure than only python can handle this, but how I would accomplish that?..

3-A little question, what are the benefits and disvantages of compressing a file?I want my blend to be the smallest possible, to be quickly to load, should I compress my file?

4-My models don´t appear to be receiving light, even with a lamp at the roof, what settings at materials I should use to obtain this effect?

Could anyone please help me in this task ? Until there I will study some tutorials I have, but maybe they don´t have the knowledge I need

hm… I could have a look at the file… if you could just upload it this time  the link is broken

-thondal-

It´s strange, I only updated the same link with copy/paste and it worked again…

good model… but it´s 01:28 am here… so i´m going to bed. sorry, cant find the solution. Been trying out a few things… might see if i can find something out later, but most likely somebody else will help you long before me… might even be you. I´m not THAT good at this yet… but i gave it a try… good luck

-thondal-

No problem, thanks thondal

Your character model looks really cool.

I found the problem in your motion. She is moving on the Globe Y. You need her to move on the Local Y (or in you case, Local Z).

I redesigned the game to move on the “Local” axis. I even gave the game simple collisions. The logic brick for the animation could still use some work, but here is the Link:

Wow, its only 7:00 PM here.

Thank you very much! I will remember your help at the game credits, and please allow me to add you to my buddy list, you appears to be skilled at python I´m wrong?

1-My charater just crosses walls like a ghost  [No more!]

2-It don´t move in the direction it is currently pointing, it only moves along y axis instead, I´m sure than only python can handle this, but how I would accomplish that?..[No more!]

3-A little question, what are the benefits and disvantages of compressing a file?I want my blend to be the smallest possible, to be quickly to load, should I compress my file? [aparently no disvantages, this option reduced a small amount of my blend size]

But my models still don´t appear to be receiving any light, even with a lamp at the roof, what settings at shading I should use to obtain this effect? I think I will browse by the shaders document I have…
But any help would still be welcome :eyebrowlift:

Another one, why when I press forward or downward key in addiction to left or right keys, and later release left or right, my animation just freezes until forward or backward is pressed again? Humm…I need to study this too

If you don´t understand, watch the blend file and you will see

Alright, select your model, press F ( Face select mode) then press A (Select all) now click the editing button or press F9, make sure “Light” is pressed down now press “CopyDrawmo” button press F again and your done, your model will now receive light.

If you are still stuck or that is to vague, tell me i will do it for you or take some screenshot to help.

Brave.

I wouldn’t compress my files. Only compress a file if you are finished with a game and you want to save space.

To get shading go into “UV face” Mode. Then select all your faces by pressing “a”. Press “W” and a small screen will appear. Last, Select the “light”. I wouldn’t recommend putting light on your charater model because I tried it eariler and it didn’t look as good.

I also noticed the problem with the animation. I didn’t take alot of time to look at it much, but I will try to fix the animation problem.

Also, I’m not planning on using your models in my game, but these pictures looked soooooo cool!

I love how sonic has that “shut up baby, I got this” look dto him. lol

Heres a quick tip for you when your know your going to be painting a straight line. Make sure to set up your UV map so that the lines that your going to be painting, like the ones on the skirt, will be perfectly vertically or perfectly horizontally on your map. This will hide the fact that you are painting across varying pixels. ie. It will get rid of the jagged edges.

Instead of using a perfectly solid brush is to use a slightly fuzzy brush so that the fuzzy will bleed into the next outer pixel, with will soften the jagged edges.

I tested lighting on your model and she doesn’t receive it too well - but that’s okay, your textures are good, she dosn’t really need to receive lighting,

wok on your polyloops if you want them to receive light better

really good walk cycle btw

I really loved this screenshot you made C-106 Delta  althought it´s a bit funny for me to see my charater side by side with sonic, I could even allow you to use her in a game like this (when I finish her of course).

Thanks bravehearth, I did everything right, except I haven´t pressed CopyDrawmo. It´s a shame the lighting I saw wasn´t what I was looking for, I only wanted the charater to lighten or darken in general,(only one of these two at time),like the games from earlier, not all those effects of light and shadows…

MagicMyshu, thanks for teaching me that, I have once say what my charater looked with lighting on, before I messed up with the materials, I must say I too prefer her the way she is now, because with lighting my charater looked too realistic for a anime style game. The walkcycle I have learned reading one the tutorials at the stickies of the GE, and I think I can still perfect it

Thank you too jessegp, I thinked about it too, but I was too focused in animation and GE to rework the texture, but soon I will correct that

But please, my charater isn´t that good yet, I´ll need to work the head and eyes a bit(and the texture), not mentioning the hand, anyone know why it deform so badly? is it because the bones aren´t perfectly placed inside the mesh? Just look the blend file, rotate the hand bones and you´ll what I´m talking about

Maybe C-106 Delta can remake this nice screenshot when my charater is really done  ?

OK, now I have became very motivated  Here is the musictrack I´m planning to put on my project:

http://www.savefile.com/files/513937 (about 56kb in midi)

It´s freeware, you can do anything with it, you don´t need even to credit me, because it isn´t mine, it´s public.Make good use those who have loved the style

About the charater, I wanted her to appear very cute, like my member name says (kawaii=gracious, cute),I´m a fan of this style of charater. At the first level will be her agaist a big, evil(and ugly) alien I have already finished (more or less). I suppose I have achieved my objective?

And about the history, anyone want to hear it?

I would like to hear the history, but sometimes it is better to keep the story secret until you release your game. This way the story will be more interesting and fresh for the game.

In this download I fixed the animation and I made the camera better without having to link it.
http://www.freewebs.com/c106delta/Bioweapon_test_remix2.blend

I made some more improvements on your game. This blend has fixed animation, unlinked camera, gravity, realtime physics, and better movement. I also made your level into one model (to merge objects hold “Ctrl” and “J”).

http://www.freewebs.com/c106delta/Bioweapon_test_remixPhysics.blend

Thanks again C-106 Delta, I´ll analyse these files. I´m planning into going forward with the development of the game test file, I´ll ad these features for the test blend:

Life and energy gauge, and some recovery medicines for testing purposes

A current weapon icon+ example handgun with ammo(plus reloading, dropping and firing animations)

A current power icon+ A new animation for the example power

A simple AI for a example enemy, only for testing

A simple inventory interface

After I have achieved these, studying many tutorials, and hopefully with C-106 Delta support, I will really start the true game, wiith some rooms, doors, save & load system, main menu, ingame videos and everything a normal game have. Of course I´ll need plenty of time to make these features, but I`m really patient.

My main question now is, is it possible to import other blend file, store it, set as current scene and later set it as non current scene? Explaining better, in my game only one room will be loaded by time(like resident evil games), after you exit it, it will be stored and another scene, like a corridor will be loaded in it´s place(these are separate blend files). My game can´t even begin without the knowledge about this. I know I´ll have to load the file(somehow), set as current scene, save the scene settings after it is unloaded, and load another scene with other settings, but how?

I have fixed the walkcycle(now it´s nice), but I will have to rework completly the face because of some problems, after that I´ll apply the renewed and final(I hope) texture. I won´t post the blend yet, because of these issues. After all that I would consider her finaly finished(If she don´t receive light)
After that, C-106 Delta, could you please remake the screenshot above? It will be much better
