Me and my brother were driving down a gravel road, my brother just got his licsense a few weeks ago, and we swerved of the road into a ditch. Were alright, but scared as hell. The car flipped over, and my brother was the one who told me to put my seatbelt on Before we left school. I’m just glad god let us get out unharmed. This happend around an hour ago. and the tow truck picked the car up already.When stuff like this happens, you just can’t decide if it’s real or not. My brother doesn’t drink,smoke, or do drugs, but my dad will be really mad. They were supposed to trade cars in a few days.

Damn man! Good to hear you’re still alive though. When people go silent online, one can’t help but wonder what happened to them…
Just be grateful you can still hear your dad complain about the damage… life is short enough as it is, then it rolls really quickly when you aren’t paying attention.

It is easy for us to underestimate and forget what a life, just being alive, really is.
As old as the universe and even this planet probably is, mankind seems to be an unnatural arrival on earth. But, the conscience seems to be the most amazing gifts mankind has. Without it, how could we even, as a whole, be here even this long.
Just happy to here the amazing story that you are unscathed. I have a friend who, years ago, flipped his car doing 90mph. he was drunk! The car threw him out and he hit a tree, breaking only his collar bone. A miracle, non the less.
Wow, you’re lucky. A friend of mine was in an accident and got both his wrists shattered.

I just thought of this. Why automobiles? Not why, because of the now “Dependence” on petroleum, but why, in the grand “scheme” of mankind’s arrival on earth?
Listen to the birds sometime, and you would hear them mimicking car alarms, horns, chainsaws, etc. I doubt birds were created to ever see an automobile or chainsaw.
Probably no solution or definite answer, but just a thought. We obviously benifit from automobiles in way of transpo to work and ambulances, and attracting materialistically shallow mates, but I wonder if mankind would have progressed as a society without automobiles as we know them?
20% of my highschool graduating class are dead now because of automobile accidents. I am glad you and your bro survived, let alone the fact you are unharmed.EDIT: unharmed physically
That’s extremely high. Only one person in my graduating class died that way. Not sure how many where in the class though.
As for civilization, we would be living in extremely dense cities without automobiles (everything would have to be closer… a lot of older cities tend to be dense for this reason). Of course, with the advent of the gasoline, diesel, and electric motors, I highly doubt we wouldn’t have some form of motorized transportation.
As for me, I ride the bus. I hate it and I’m looking into buying a motor scooter.
once i was in a car accident too…but this time my brother was taking me to school and he was listening to rock music and driving in about 120 and there a car stopped in front of us and my brother held the brakes and we have sliped from the road luckily we didnt hit the car in font of us and our car countinued slipping until it entered a a constructing area a the engineers jumped off the cars front and we stoped …EVERY ONe WAS LOOKING AT US NOT THAT CAR!(the one who stopped in front of us = a women was driving ) thank god we are alive ! if it was raining thenn…all come hours then forget
I have been in a couple actual accidents, and a couple of really close calls that would most likely have killed me. None of the accidents was my fault, but my first accident i still felt REALLY bad about, cause there was an entire family in the van that pulled out in front of me, and in trying to avoid the thing at the last moment i ended up clipping it in such a way that it went sideways and rolled a couple of times. No one was hurt too bad, but one of the kids had a pretty deep cut on his arm. Had nightmares about that in slow motion and occasionally find myself still wondering if I could have pulled off some other kind of maneuver without hitting them or doing that much damage.
When i was in highschool a car accident drove one of the vehicles up onto the sidewalk where i was waiting for the light and had i been standing about a foot more to the left i would surely have been killed instantly. Luckily no one else was waiting there either.
I’m glad you both ended up without any serious injuries. Truthfully, tho, you really won’t feel it for a day or two. I know when i had that first accident i didn’t really feel anything at all for hours. As soon as my car had stopped i was out and running my ass off to get to the van. But a couple days later i could barely move at all.
I had a funny story i was going to tell, but after i typed it it didn’t really seem that funny. One of those “you had to be there” type stories i guess… On the upside, now my post is about a paragraph less crap for everyone to read.

One of my fellow engineers on my course was, when at sixth form college, driving back from somewhere at night on a dual carriageway at 70+mph, and somehow managed to go into a skid. The car flipped about ten times, and landed on its side. She checked herself to see if she was alright and there was no damage! So she opened the door (which was by now above her) and got out… and just as she was almost out, the door fell on her thumb, shattering the bone into many pieces! So she spent all of her A Level exams on morphine…

a friend flipped his ford explorer just with 7 mph on a hill
and I had no seat belt on. the speed prevented any damage.
flipping with 7 mph is kinda slow motion.
with more speed damage rate increases so good you had your seat belt on!!!

Yeah, my graduating class was small, around 80 or so people. 5 died in car accidents before graduation on the squirrelly roads out their(alcohol was a factor in a few). A some died over the summer after graduation, 3 were brothers enroute to work and was head on from a car trying to pass cars. Former class mates over the years kept telling me of old friends who are no longer here, all car related.
I think if oil production was never part of the infrastructure, I think that automated travel would have still happened, probably even without oil. Di Vinci’s inventions never showed schematics for oil or gas combustion, at least I didn’t think so.
When I was a kid, I saw on PBS, a group of scientists running cars in thier own competition. These were like little carts that had vials on back that were being tested after each 1/4 mile lap. they had to meet some specifications, and they mixtures were mostly water, absolutely no petroleum or alcohol fuels were allowed. This was amazing to me. This was in the early 70’s. my dad(former Tuskegee Airman), R.I.P. , Told me about a man who invented a carberator of some sort that ran entierly on water and was for GM vehicles, and tried to paten it, but could not and was not allowed to produce or market the device.
I don’t know, but I would guess that if a person were ever to make a device that was able to power todays cars without petroleum or any other large corrporate energy sources, I would suspect that they would put the “Carbotches” on that real quick.
I know that is off topic, as that still wont solve the fact that we have steel tombs wizzing around at high speed at mere feet from our friends and relative, as well as nature and pets. I guess the world may have been created to puke mankind off into space someday.
Thanks. Yeah, today i’m starting to feel sore and a few bumps on my head, but it’s just so scary rolling forward in a car. Because The car went into a ditch and flipped forward, and we had the windows open and the only thing i remember doing was grabbing the roof and my finger getting slighlty pinched. But the windows were the thing me and my brother crawled out of.Oh, and GE-Force, we were listening to Chevelle,(Might have spelt it wrong),and he was taking me home from school. and im only fourteen,so if i would have died…that would suck!
And my dad’s not to mad, just glad were alright.My Brother wants the car to be a WIP car(New windsheild,undend the roof,Fix the mirrors.)The car is a buick if anyone wanted to know.
Crashes suck but it sounds like you and your brother escaped any real injury. Seatbelts really do work. I used to work as an EMT for a while before I went to college. I got to see some pretty twisted bodies. I had seen some really bad accidents that occured at high speeds and the driver and passengers walked away thanks to seatbelts and airbags. There were other wrecks that didnt look to bad or happend at lower speeds and the car looked in ok shape, but driver/passengers got ejected and rolled over.
