I would like to get help on learning how to do simple rigs

Hello, I have modeled this simple low poly bird

I have basic knowledge on rigging, I know how to setup a simple armature and mess around with weight paint.
I am having numerous problems trying to get the rig to pose like I want it to when it comes with the wings, and it’s mostly due to the weight paint. The small amount of polygons are what I think is the source of the absolute frustration that I get when it comes to trying to mess with weight paint.

I don’t want to share my blend because reasons, but surely just by looking at the picture someone can help me get on the right direction to know how to rig such a basic model, because I’m having no luck whatsoever on what should be a relatively easy process.

All I’m trying to do is make this bird flap its wings, and I keep having issues with certain poses distorting the entire model because the weight paint can’t be distributed properly for some stupid reason.

Please help, thanks.

Read, and complete these two tutorials:

https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Tutorials/Your_First_Animation/2.Animation

That will give you a good basic understanding of the rigging process. Then you can ask us for more help. These tutorials should take you between one and two hours to complete, this is time well spent.

I have looked at your image, it is hard to tell anything from this, my first comment is that there are far too few polys for a good animation, but it is hard to see anything useful in this image. Make a blend file that you can post if you cannot work out what to do from completing the two tutorials I have referenced above.

Cheers, Clock.
