oh, and finally figured out how to do an infinity plane in cycles, yey!

i think i got it now. also the nodes involved are much smaller. infinity plane or shadow catcher.

make sure the ground plane diffuse only shader has .01 RGB, and a lamp on scene to generate the shadow. you can play with its size to soften the shadows.

thanks guys, trying my best to stick to one project and finish it. so much awesome tools in blender added recently and currently i just feel inspired.
