Ἰαπετός Īapetus. A Space Odyssey

Iapetus : Saturn’s natural satellite.
A place unknown and unvisited…

…or so we thought.

Since the lockdown (again) halted all of my work, I decided to spend the time learning 3D art and I’m loving it so far! Spent a good two weeks on this one, hope to improve and make more.!

This is my second render and my second time posting on Blender Artist, so I would also love some feedback on how I can improve the scene :smile:

I’ve combined both Blender 2.91 and Adobe Photoshop to create these.

How’d you make the terrain? it doesn’t look like a displacement modifier. Did you sculpt it? or was it done in photoshop?

It was actually a displacement map I found online that was for free.

I did play around with the color ramp and other nodes to see what fits best.

Love the wide shot with the astronaut standing close to the artifact. The lighting and the windswept ice under the dark sky is amazing.

Thank you!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Looks awesome! :+1:t2: Reminds me of something that I made. But I suppose monolithic structures on alien worlds is nothing new. :laughing:
