Iceking's Tutorial Section

about that, where can i find the screen cast activation? can’t seem to find it anywhere even on the addons bundled with buildbot versions.

edit: okay, just found out it was removed. also when I tried it before there was considerable lag. the original premise for making this tutorials does not include showing the keys as it would prevent me from fast forwarding some of the redundant operations in the video. if a quick search of the net or some good old tinkering does not provide any clues, you can ask me here or comment/message on the fb page. though anyways i will be providing downloadable pdf content on the blog site for each tutorials in which I will supplement the missing key points.

I could complete the tutorial without any problems but people still learning the shortcut keys might have problems.

A few examples 1:54 "enter texturing mode, go to slots and add a canvas image
I didn’t see anything about “canvas image” so i just went with diffuse.
Between 2:02 and 2:09, you give no annotations on what you’re doing (symmetry etc)

You give too little information at 2:18 regarding the curvature setting (like which curve setting are you using, how many points are you using and what is the X and Y coordinates of the point that was blocked by the annotations)

At 2:25 you give no annotations that you selected the “line” stroke method, and you only gave advice regarding symmetry after you have started drawing.

At 2:47 you give little annotations regarding the displacement map texture.

3:13 only now do you say that the brush always has to be at full strength.

Rest of the video is pretty straight forward (except for leaving out the part where the displacement modifier needs to be on tip of the Subsurface modifier and that you need to use full strength when using the fill brush near the start.)

I’m hoping you could help me figure out what is causing this, i have all symmetry options turned on.

I know you’re trying to keep the video short but you could have broken it into 2 parts to fit in all the needed information.

in slots there is painting mode where there is material or image. choose image.

listen, man. the tutorials are meant to be workflow templates for everyone to research on. the videos will not be a full on spoon feeding program, but i will answer questions if i can.

as for the annotations, i have yet to fix that. but i think you can turn it off on the video settings in the gear icon.

as for other things like the modifier setup, i did not comment on it as it is already shown on the video.

this is my first attempts at tutorials, so i appreciate comments like yours in order to improve the next ones.

as for the pic, you need to turn off occlude and cull, go the side view (ortho) and paint a line stroke, this will penetrate the mesh and cover all sides.

Had the same problem, under options, set your normal to 90, (that what worked for me)

if that doesn’t work, in the options tab (t-menu) under projection painting remove all ticks, occlude, cull, normal.

Part 1 of 2 Retopology Tutorial. This is a timelapse of my workflow using bsurfaces and ice tools. The next vid will be the basic rundown of the tools involved.

Thanks man for making these.
Cheers.

@Ranquin: thnx bro, love your work too. next video should be up soon.

Just WOW!!
That was impressive show =)

Thank you.

thanks all, next will be demo of Hardops addon and then part 3 of the hard surface techniques where I reveal how to easily making hard surface models in dyntopo sculpting.

The 2nd tutorial is awesome, the gun really looks sooooo cool. Great tutorial. Thanks man!

third part of hard surface tutorial will be released this week. I’ll be re-implementing the strict 5 minute limit rule to the videos and the full breakdown of the video could be read at the site. there will be an option to download it as pdf too.

Cool. Is this one going to cover hard ops?

the trilogy is now a 4 part video series, I’ve missed a hard surface workflow which is too good not to cover, hard ops and the sculpting method is moved to video 4.

What is the problem? I can’t start it.<br><img src="/uploads/default/original/4X/b/f/8/bf8333f282f006451c8d0e8a094906615e4e458f.jpgstc=1" attachmentid=“442609” alt="" id=“vbattach_442609” class=“previewthumb”>
