Well, here it is. I know it needs some work; after I finished with this, I took another look at the icicles outside my window and realized they had a bunch of rings starting at the top and going all the way down to the bottom. I also know that there’s too much blue for it to look that realistic, but I wanted to give it a colder feel, and I like the look of it better this way anyway
What Material did you use man?, Are u using a procedural texture and nodes or is it just an texmat ? id say your ice looks realistic any chance of posting the setting you used.
Meery x mas -man
No nodes involved; here are the settings:

Those are my material settings, and if you want, I can try to post the .blend.
Thanks for your response!
P.S. Merry Christmas to you, too
Good job. However something doesn’t seem right. Maybe you need some more ambient occlusion?
Alway’s love your projects.
I love it! Although I have to agree that something looks a little strange. I spend a considerable amount of time in the winter ice climbing. So I guess you could say I know ice! But it takes on such different looks depending on how it formed. Some ice gets really aerated and looks cloudy, while others get really clear and blue. Again depends on how it formed.
I think having irregular rings would help add to the realism, also it seems that the texture looks likes it’s going vertical, where it seems like a horizontal direction would be better (does that make sense?).
I just grabbed a couple random photos of mine with some interesting ice for a reference if you care. I have hundreds of images of ice in all sorts of conditions and forms, if you have any interest in some reference photos just let me know. It’d be interested in seeing any changes you make to this!

@ GraphiX, I’m not sure; I’ll try it. Thanks!
@ crazycourier, I already mentioned the rings, and I’ll change the vertical texture-look when I can. Thanks for your response!
