Idea For Contest

I came up with an idea for a contest: Images based on those of movies. Any movie is fine, as long as it is not pornography (just in case) and is based on an image from a film and not a game, TV series, etc.

Idea for rules:

1: No porn is used. No matter what scene it’s taken from, if you send us something from a porn film, it will be disqualified. Also, in your submission, you must not use nudity or sexuality.
2: Please tell what movie your image is from, and tell us what is happening. Regardless of whether it’s “The Wizard Of Oz,” “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” “Minority Report,” “Cube,” “Star Wars,” or “I Am Sam,” somebody might not have seen the film and would be clueless to the scene.
3: Do not include something that will ruin the film’s ending. This is for the same reason as before, somebody might not have seen the film and will find out the ending. This would be especially disastrous for a film that has a surprise ending.
4: As long as it is not pornography, you may use any film you wish. Anything from “Road To Perdition” to “Spider Man” to “Waking Life” is acceptable as long as the image is appropriate.
5: Blender must be used for either modelling, rendering, or both. Should Maya be used, you will not be disqualified unless you used it alone.
6: Any look is fine (cartoony, black-and-white, surreal).
7: The movie must be real. A movie you are planning to make wouldn’t be acceptable.
8: Have fun.

Well?

You got something against nudity? You’re nude under your clothes too, you know…
IMO, nothing’s more beautiful than the body of a woman…

Might be interesting…

1 question: are there any restrictions on re-using models you’ve previously created (in blender)?
2 requests for clarification:so each entrant is submitting an image from a different movie?

are mini-series fair game? made for TV movies?

>>1: No porn is used. No matter what scene it’s taken from, if you send >>us something from a porn film, it will be disqualified. Also, in your >>submission, you must not use nudity or sexuality.

why not? the bodily fluids would be a great experiment. and naked bodies ARE the hardest thing to model.

>>2: Please tell what movie your image is from, and tell us what is >>happening. Regardless of whether it’s “The Wizard Of Oz,” “The Man >>Who Knew Too Much,” “Minority Report,” “Cube,” “Star Wars,” or “I >>Am Sam,” somebody might not have seen the film and would be >>clueless to the scene.

Star Wars?

they die

spiderman?

>>5: Blender must be used for either modelling, rendering, or both. >>Should Maya be used, you will not be disqualified unless you used it >>alone.

I use blender to save my files. I fisrt export to it from xsi, and then save

>>6: Any look is fine (cartoony, black-and-white, surreal).

how about porn-pink?

>>7: The movie must be real. A movie you are planning to make >>wouldn’t be acceptable.
great, the LotR is not yet finished right?! WOOHOOO! NO ELFES!

>>8: Have fun.

without porn? hmmmm, well…I can try

Anyway, I’d limit this only to illegal stuff, like child-porn and others like that… I see no reason to ban nudity. It’s not like everyother entry would be hc-porn if you’d allow that… besides, there’s only about 1 porn movie classic…

>>6: Any look is fine (cartoony, black-and-white, surreal).

Oooooooooo… :o porn-pink… Ooooooooo :stuck_out_tongue:

It would be nice to see even ONE decently made 3d-porn scene… I haven’t even seen any BADLY done ones

Okay, then, I’ll rephrase the porn things: As long as no nudity or sex is shown in your image, you can use something from a porn film (i.e. “I’m walking here! I’m walking here!”)

Q1: As long as they apply to the movie you’re trying to recreate.

Q2: That’d be WEIRD if nobody sent in the same movie! Then again… well, if we have two “LotR” images, then it would be okay, as long as they’re not the same exact thing.

Q3: (Better-not-say-what-I’m-thinking-or-I’ll-get-banned)! Those never came to my mind. Sure, you can use made-for-TV movies or mini-series, just as long as you don’t try anything weird (i.e. trying to make a Kanamit from “To Serve Man,” from “The Twilight Zone”)!

PS: I meant “movies you meant to make,” not “movies that have yet to be released.” Besides, “The Two Towers” is finished, as far as I know.

No nudity? This remark is rather weird, like if you feared nudity. Nudity has nothing to do with sex and porn. Therefore, I don’t think it is harmful to post nudity (oh my god!! my cat is naked!!). But sure! there are many other things to model than nude models… :stuck_out_tongue: , well I guess… i think i can try, but gosh! no nudity!!!

Dani
PS. just forget about that nudity stuff, it’s perception depends on a lot of stuff… so there’s no need to start to debate, there is no absolute answer…

Will you guys just accept the no-nudity thing? I’m sorry, but there are minors on this site (namely me), and who wants them banned? (Aside from, say, dickie, who didn’t like my comments on some porn he made!)

PS: I meant “human nudity.” Who gets offended by nude cats? (Aside from someone with a grudge against cats?)

why would minors be banned for seeing nudity? wtf is wrong with seeing nudity anyway? do your parents just freak out every time they see a nude painting? why should people not be allowed to do that? freedom of effing speak man.

Use AOL and find out! Some people can get offended by nudity. I don’t think they look at art. They shouldn’t do that because it could get elysiun banned from AOL, and everyone should know about elysiun. “Freedom of speech,” not “freedom of effing speak.”

In short: Morality and online services

o…k…

  1. i dont wanna use aol and find out, i dont wanna use aol period
  2. freedom of speech is a generic term used to reference to that portion of the 1st amendment. i can phrase it however i want.
  3. there has already been some nudity on these forums, so aol would have banned it by now.

Hmmm. Powder keg full, fuse lit.

Cube has an idea for a contest.
One of the facets for Cube’s contest is that it does not include nudity.

If you don’t like Cube’s idea, ignore it. Just click on the old return to forum index link and forget it.

Please don’t get bent out of shape and start a free speech flame war, because free speech (and thought!) was what allowed Cube to come up with the contest idea at all.

If I want to start a contest in which the color blue is disallowed, you are free to join the contest or to ignore it. Cube designed a contest that appealed to him. If it doesn’t appeal to you, just bag it.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not now, nor have I ever been a) in a porno movie, or b) arbitrarily against the color blue in any shade {except for those cheesey tuxedos in the 70’s with all those frilly ruffles}

That’s mainly because people would ignore it until they see scenes from porn films, then decide to alert AOL, Netscape, etc., etc. or because they’ve never been on the WIP forum or the finished forum. (Let me guess: “There’s been nudity on the Blender Forum.”)

Xampersand: At least you didn’t complain about “no nudity”, like everyone seems to have said (minus ecitizen).

AOL bans nudity? It’s not cubefans problem with nudity that bothers me, but the fact that certain corporations feel they have to be their own little ‘cyber god’. Society allows parents now days to have a complete lack of responsibilty. Some think that it should be the responsibility of the websites or companies to keep minors from seeing nudity. I think they should not ‘market’ it towards minors, and maybe perhaps have minimal protection, such as a warning page, etc… But why should peoples freedom of speech be violated so that some parents can be lazy as to their parental responsibilities?

As for the no nudity in the contest, no problem. Every contest has it’s own rules. But just to regulate the nudity rules in society in general, it’s variable morality based upon point of view and situation, so regulation would only cause problems.
