ik and limit rotation don't cooperate

i’ve got armature chain with ik applied, one bone got limit rotation constraint, it works ok.
i add target object to ik solver, and it ignores limit rotation constraint.
i want hand to follow some object, and rotate when it does, but i want also elbow to have just one axis of rotation, what can i do ??

IK solvers don’t really work with the limit rot constraints in the constraints tab at the moment.

bones in IK chains get a separate panel for controlling rotation limits etc.
go to edit buttons and select a bone in an IK chain.
at the bottom of the Armature Bones panel, you will find the controls for limiting rotation and rotation stiffness along the different axes.
