IK Bone Control disconnecting

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a basic issue, but I’m pretty new to blender and I couldn’t find a solution so far.

I was wondering how to prevent an IK control from slipping, as per this gif I made: http://i.imgur.com/NsgT3rL.gif

In the first one (my rig), the IK control disconnects from its position relative to the hand bone. In the second one (from here http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/12991), it behaves the way I’d like it to.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

The bone with IK modifier is set to point to target specified. IK target is not parented to IK chain of the rig. Depending or IK target position, the rig can fold up or point straight at the target. This is like a target constraint and target it self is not necessary attached to the rig. So the target can slip right off away from the rig.

When custom shape is used in place of target bone, there is a option to place custom shape on to given bone so that it will not slip around. The box is just below Custom Shape box under Display.

That did it. Thank you!
