IK Bones offset issue

Learning rigging in blender, following a tutorial when i apply IK constraint then this happens
There is a offset between edit and pose mode how to fix it

Make the position your bones are at in Pose mode the same as in Edit mode.

  1. Go into pose mode (ctrl tab)

  2. Select all of your bones (a)

  3. Apply (Ctrl a)

  4. Click apply Pose as Rest Pose

Note the armature disconnect from the mesh. I exaggerated the distance between here and where my armature is. If your armature in edit mode is aligned well, it won’t be an issue. If it’s like my photo, then it will be.

Hi there, meant to reply before this, but been busy.

One of the more common problems that cause this is the pole angle being off a bit in the IK constraint. I don’t think that is you problem, but it’s hard to tell from a side view. You can tell better from a front view, look for the knee moving inwards or outwards when going from pose to edit mode.

Another quick thing to do is select all bones and Alt-G/R/S to clear locations/rotations/scales of bones.

To troubleshoot this, first get rid of everything that you don’t need to see, like the gun that is cluttering up your screenshots and even hide the character mesh. Then switch from pose mode to edit mode and look for any movement in any bones other than the leg bones. Pay real close attention to the IK controller bone and the leg’s IK chain parent (likely the hip bone?) and the pole target bone. Those are the only bones that should affect the IK chain.

Hope this helps,
Randy
