Ik solver problems

Now I’m new to animation, thus meaning i have no clue what I’m doing. With that out of the way I am following a tutorial on riging a hand on the blender 2.3 online manual. Everything has been going fine until i have to add an Ik solver to the fingers, everything starts to shift up and when i try to pose it it goes crazy.

I currently have version 2.4, If you know of a newer or better tutorial about rigging or can solve my problem plz. help

not sure if this is the problem but…
with 2.4 onwards adding a iksolver will as default use the whole chain, try playing with the chainlength and use “tip options” if it is not working as per the old tutorial.(old didn’t use tip)

i checked over the link you gave CD38 but it still doesnt help with the finger movement. It wont let me subtarget the hand or the base finger bones. but it did solve how it moved out of place when i tried to add an Ik solver.

Sry for the last post i almost imidiatly figured out what was wrong afterwards
