Ik to Fk switch in riigify

Does anyone know how to get the IK to FK switch to work? I press the Ik to FK button , instead it just moves the IK ? have I missed something out ?

Read this post before and it had me a little confused. I’m confused because the rig is doing exactly what you are telling it to do, it’s functioning fine. Then I remember reading your other post and that you are coming from maya. So if you haven’t figured this out yet, let me explain it to you.

The IK → FK (hand.R) button that you have circled is for snapping the IK arm bones to the FK arm bones. Likewise, the FK → IK (hand.R) button is for snapping the FK bones to the IK bones. The actual switch to put the rig into IK or FK mode is the IK - FK (hand.R) slider above the buttons I mentioned.

In your screenshot the IK - FK (hand.R) is green in color, that means that it has a key frame on some frame, but not the current frame. Above that, the loc/rot/scale fields are yellow, that indicates a key frame on the current frame. Left clicking on the green IK - FK (hand.R) area and dragging the mouse to the right will change the value from 0 to 1. That’s how you switch from one mode to the other.

When you do that, the area will change from green to yellow since you have auto-keying turned on. You changed the value and blender inserted a key frame.

Hope this helps,
Randy

Thank you for the explaining it, what I really want to happen is that it can switch from IK to FK, without it moving pose. But as you can see it moved, Thats why I thought is this not working or have I missed something out ?

Ok, in your 1st screenshot the rig is in IK mode, the IK controller is up by the chest/neck area. The FK arm controllers are down by the side, hand below the waist. If you change the IK-FK (hand.R) from 0 to 1, the arm will go from the first pose, hand at the chest, to the second pose, hand at the side. Now the rig will be in FK mode and you control it with the long green lines & circles, upperarm, lowerarm, hand.

To make the switch from IK to FK without the pose changing, hit the FK → IK (hand.R) button. That will snap the FK bones to the IK bones, then move the slider to 1. Now the rig will be in FK mode and matching the IK mode pose.

Normally, I snap the FK to the IK on one frame and key frame both FK & IK bones and key frame the slider at 0. Advance one frame and change the slider to 1 and key it. Then continue on posing the FK bones.

Feel free to ask questions,
Randy

This is correct. I marked it as the solution.

Of course feel free to ignore the “solved” warnings when posting and continuing to clarify.

Just for clarity for those people searching for an answer.

Brilliant ,that makes sense, Thank you !
