hey guys… i’m a bit new to the whole blender scene… and am doing a project at the moment for tech in which i have to simulate an oscilloscope first and when thats done i have to do a crt monitor… so what i’ve got is an electron gun that shoots out particles and has to go through deflection plates and hit a screen on the other end… is there something in blender that when the particle hits the screen(which is a mesh object) that part of the screen lights up or gets the particles colour? and one more question about the deflection plates any assistance as to which fields would be the best for deflecting the particles at a certain point on the screen… thanks in advance… any help would be much appreciated…
ok… maybe a very simple solution, but since you’re newish it might be an option… for each particle… give them a lamp that doesn’t shine very far as a child… which will illuminate the screen if the particle gets close enough.
There are lots of possibilities here. None are out of the box though.
hi… but how exactly do i assign a light for each particle coming from the electron gun ??
Make a light, parent it to the emitter, and then select the emitter and choose “dupliverts” in the animation buttons.
There is a slight caveat though; when parenting to particle emitting meshes, the original object will be rendered (and won’t move) when you Duplivert… make sure you move it off-scene and Crtl-A it beforehand, else it’ll drive you nuts (try to move it and all your dupes move relative to the centerpoint.)
