Ilustrator Vector Path Importing

Hey, I have this logo in Illustrator.

I want to import it in to blender, which I have done but I seems to lose the fact that the grey bit is filled in with a solid. (I tried all the formats illustrator cs2 provides)

So I’m not really sure how I’m going to convert it to an object/mesh and keep that solid face so when I extrude / add modifiers it’ll still look good and will work the way I wish…

Any ideas?

Blender’s curves aren’t great for that sort of thing. Probably best to just import/convert to mesh and then fill.
