I’m building a NEW COMPUTER!!! I’m so excited! My computer specs (I can’t recall them all though) are:
Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with Hyperthreading
800 Mhz FSB
1 Gig DIMM RAM
dual-channel 400 Mhz (can add other CPU later in the future)
ATI FIre GL Z1
120 GB Harddrive
1 DVD Rewriting drive
1 floppy disk drive
1 Wireless Keyboard with Wireless Optical Mouse
Case: Performance Plus from Antec
Monitor: 19" LCD
Cool eh? I’m soooooo thrilled!
And, I’m at college now, majoring in pre-animation! Cool eh?
Sounds good DreamMaster, hope you have fun with it BTW… how have things been going for ya lately?
RAID is only beneficial in certain circumstances though. Which a regular workstation hardly has.
SCSI, as compared to the modern advantages with ATA, is also no more a benefit to a single user. Unless of course you just have some monster need for total throughput.
I believe RAID increase the speed by splitting data into two seperate hard drives, A good hard drive would be a ata 133/33 and up, the fastest chipsets that I know of is Nviva 950 or kt400, try to say away for those pctoys shit as well as those copper core heat sinks.
First of all, I’m not sure how much it costed. LOL! Since I get in college for free because I’m deaf (long story), my dad uses some of my college investments to build me a new computer since it’s “college” purpose… I’m majoring in Animation remember?
I’m done building my computer and installed Windows XP and other necessary things by using THIS computer’s CD-rom.
But the bad new is… MY new DVD-rom is FLAWED! It doesn’t work so my dad’s heading out to buy other one and send this stupid DVD-rom back. Errrrrrrrr.
I just love my computer! What a beauty. In my computer specs showed up on Windows XP, I have TWO CPUs because of hyperthreading… I joked with my dad saying that I actually have 5.60 ghz CPU. I’m kidding of course.
By the way, I do have RAID, but I don’t connect anything to RAIDs… we both don’t know much about RAID so we decide to stick with IDLs for now.
My motherboard is Asus… P4P800 Deluxe. Capable up to 4 GB DIMM (RAM). Cool eh? And… uh chipset is Intel 865PE (cheaper version of 865P).
I got new photo-printer (Canon i850s) and a new scanner… really high quality scanner, Espon 1600.
Cool eh?
I haven’t connected them to my computer and get them ready yet though. Right now I’m concerned about that stupid DVD-rom. My new computer’s in this very same room. It’s not internet capable yet so I can’t surf on it yet. Unfortunately. LOL.
I just asked my dad… roughly it costed him $1520 for case, motherboard, harddrive, etc. along with $600 for the 19" LCD monitor so in total it is about $2120. Printer and scanner are not included.
