I'm new to Blender and have a questions about UVs

  • How do I stop the edges on the right, “B”, from being automatically selected as a result of selecting “A”?

  • How to I “freeze” UV islands? I’ve tried “pinning” but moving and scaling remain possible. What is “pinning” then?

  • Why does selecting one thing automatically affect another?

All I’m trying to do is straighten edges but it’s becoming extremely frustrating. In 3DS Max this was super easy and, in retrospect, taken from granted. Please help. This is stopping me from completing a very simple project that I want to move on from.
