To have a real seesaw, a la HL2, you need to use the new hinge constraints shown in 2.42 preview.

I’d be interested in seeing the solution to this problem

Well, for the latest 2.42 previews and preview demos, check the bullet w/ blender forum on continuousphysics.com. One of the first threads you will see is the latest 2.42 preview ready for download, dl the physics demos and you will find the hinge constraint demo.

I went ahead and made a seesaw, you can download it here. Can’t get the paddle to collide with the ground though.

Also, please notice you can fix two objects together, using 2 hinges:

I just added both hinge.blend and fixed_constraint.blend to the physics demos in preview24.

Thanks erwin. I fixed the problem and made a demo-ready scene - you can see both the seesaw and the dynamic hinged cubes, and watch the 2 interact - here

it’s the double constraint demo that you posted but i found a weird problem
the blue cube slowly keeps falling after the red cube goes to sleep but if i disable sleeping it dosnt it just looks like a click pendulum

At the moment there is an issue that constraints don’t activate sleeping. Either you make them all overlapping/connecting, or make them all ‘non sleeping’. This is on the ‘todo’.

What do you exactly mean? I disabled sleeping for the 3 objects, and it looked fine.

That was the issue that constraints don’t impact sleeping.
It is fixed in preview33, see win32 build:
