I'm struggling to understand how to reuse animations on multiple objects

The idea was to animate objects moving to specific positions.

from p1 to p2
from p2 to p3
from p3 to p4
from p4 to p5
from p5 to p6
from p6 to p1

I eventually got the action editor (?) to do what I wanted but it was so frustrating and felt lost the entire way through. I can’t even begin to explain what I actually did.

Could someone have a look at my file and explain what I actually did and maybe also what you would have done different?

Figuring out how/where to rename an action so I wouldn’t feel as lost was a pain. There’s no menu item for deleting an empty NlaTrack.

Most annoying thing is you can’t drag a strip to an NlaTrack on a different object. It was just so damned hard to use.

i wouldn’t have used the NLA editor at all.

I would animate just for one cube the whole animation. Then add a cycle modifier for all locations.

Install the commotion add-on (it’s free).

Link animation to all other cubes.

In commotion add-on click on “copy”, then enter 40 for offset. then click offset animation. Done.

i made this short explanation video ( i am sorry, that i made some things wrong first, but i hope you get what i meant - sound is also not the best…sorry again): https://youtu.be/GTqh4iy-wVc
