I'm trying to recreate an effect similar to the Q3A title screen

I’m trying to make a light burst + fog glow type of effect entirely in cycles. Something like this.

I’ve got a mesh in the shape of the light beam texture and I’ve got a noise texture mixed with a gradient falloff to transparency.

I don’t like how it looks. Can anyone give suggestions to improve it?

Play with the Glare Node in the Compositor…set to streaks
