i did a quake3 logo like this a while ago, and tonight, i wanted to give 2.30 a test run, so I modelled the famous blender logo and this is what I ended up with… enjoy!
Very nice work! I like the second one, especially the background texture. I have been looking for a texture like that to make cg greeting cards.
Now all we need is for Steve Jobs to see your work, maybe he would make a cash donation to the Blender Foundation, for Ton and his team to futher develop Blender.
Cool! But the logo is slightly off however. The top things(don’t know what to call them)that are extruding from the circle should be moved up slightly and rotated.
I like it , its very nice looking , BUT I think you are doing somethin you could do in photoshop and get similar results , You are using a 3d program , you took the time to model the logo … show it at an angle . show the depth something … great model and texture Show it off bro
oh ya, no doubt, someone who is good at photoshop could have done this. But, that wouldnt feel “real” to me. Thats why i like modelling, i get to create something real, move it around, look at it however you want, and do whatever you want with it. its just more real to me
Dont get me wrong I think its a totally sweet material , perfect match of the Mac os style
I just wanted to see another angle … bring one end real nice and close to the camera for a perspective shot ,
As for realism in photoshop , its totally acheiveable ,
in fact , if you look at the reflections I produced with PS in the example below , they are rounded , to the shape of the logo , which are straight.
When they would be greatly rounded on a totally round object .
