Image sequence transparent textures still not rendering in latest Blender?

I’m using 2.70, and I tried creating a plane with a texture that is from an image sequence.

It shows up correctly in the UI in Texture mode and displays the correct frame and everything when I scrub the timeline but when I render any frame that mesh is not shown.

When I set its texture back to single image it renders the first frame correctly.

Anyone else know of the situation with this? is it a bug? has it been fixed yet?

Can you test in current 2.71? Maybe show some screenshots so we can see the material settings and object settings
