Hi all,
I would like to create a building from photographs.
Usually, I used Image Modeler + Maya.
Now, I’m try to learning Blender, is there an alternative to Image Modeler?
Or Blender can do it?
Thanks!

Here’s another http://www.regard3d.org/ (similar to Photoscan)
Thanks for the Blam tip Ricky, pretty much gave up on Imagemodeler since Autodesk acquired it
Blam does not convert directly to 3D but helps to use an image and make like buildings shape
from perspective lines on image.
thanks

Yeah, that was the basic function of ImageModeler, and it could extract textures from the photos and map them to the objects. Have not looked at Blam closely to figure out how it compares to ImageModeler with some specific functions. It’s different from the Structure From Motion approach of Regard3D or Photoscan.
Thanks guys!
chrisd u r right, Blam is different but it can help a lot.
Thanks again!
I was just wondering if there was a software like ‘AutodeskImage Modeler 2009’ that actually has support for blender. Please keep in mind that I am aware of BLAM add-on, I use quite frequently but It’s clear too me that BLAM doesn’t come even close to AIM 2009.

This function
was the reason why I asked if there was a similar software to AIM 2009 that has support for Blender. If not, is it possible to export or at least mimic/copy the setup of cameras and images from 3DS Max to Blender with exact same focal length, distance, transformations etc.? In my opinion this tool looks really powerful, don’t know why don’t see this often being used in CGI industry?
I would also like to mention that I’ve seen modelers use this for making a motorbike model for MGS4.
I think I’ve found the answer. I want to share with anyone who is interested:
The video is in Russian but somewhere at 37:00 the uploader shows us how to export the data from AIM 2009 as an .fbx into max and then from max to Blender, hope this helps anyone.
Hello, anyone have any idea to re-download imagemodeler please?
