I downloaded a 3ds model (found here: http://www.klicker.de/lib/m_man3.zip) and tried to import it via the File Menu:
I get the following error in the console:
Compiled with Python version 2.5.
Checking for installed Python… got it!

Although another user had a similar problem (http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68730&highlight=import+3ds), I am still getting the same error. I am running Python 2.5 and blender 2.45 and Windows XP.
I have downloaded other 3d models and I get similar error messages indicating that a certain object cannot be found. I am assuming it’s searching for the actual 3d object specified in the 3ds file.
