Import .dds textures Blender

I’m trying to import some game models. The object is there, but I can’t import the image texture properly as it’s in .dds format. Although Blender recognizes it as an image when I create an image texture, it requires that I UV unwrap the model, which is extremely difficult seeing as I’m using someone else’s assets. I can’t get any of the mesh to match up with the image.

Is there a plugin that will not only allow me to use the image, but also UV coordinates? Thanks.

In what format are you importing? UV data has to be in the file you’re importing, if not the problem is at the source. Another thing is that .dds textures since 2.64 I believe will show ok in the viewport but flipped in the render, you have to change the mapping scale y to -1
