Hi,
I’ve looked around but can’t find a way to import music into a blender animation so that I can animate to the music track.
Is it possible to import music? If so can someone tell me how, or point me to a place in the manual?
Thank you,
Steve

You add the audio track to the Video Sequence Editor window. It must be a 16 bit WAV file. You can convert in something like Audacity if you have to.
More info here:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Audio_Sequences
And you can use the lip-sync tutorialfor some more ideas on using audio with your animation.
Thanks Andy!
there is somewhere a script that does motion by volume level. y could have different instruments move different object, just an idea
If you know linux?
Copy the wave file in some directory, use the command
wavetopvf -a -16 input.wav -o out.pvf
Now take this out.pvf, This is a simple text file, open using Python and create a new IPO Curve, use this IPO Curve in your program.
I forgot that it may wavetopvf or wav2pvf or wave2pvf
you can try.
some thing like that.
There is an old python script for importing midi as well. I once used that to create ipo-curves from.
