Import textured model automatically

Hello!

I have some models I want to import to blender. All those models consist of many separate meshes which do have their own (bitmap)texture assigned. Is there any way that I can import them into blender without havin to reassign every bitmap texture to every mesh in the model?

thanks WireFX

Hi, I’m sorry to tell you but you will have to convert all your BMP’s to JPG’s, blender doesn’t support BMP’s and also it depends on what you are importing from.

I am using *.jpg´s but still I cant find a way to see a textured model if I import a meshfile with several meshes: I tried Obj, LWO but all come in plain, I dont want to create a material for every single mesh I import and assign a jpg to it.

Well, no real useful answer and I am sooner than I believe on page 5 …

Sorry for putting this up again, but could somebody please confirm whether it is possibel or not in blender to load a meshfile with different single meshes all have a separate jpeg texture into blender without the need to reassign a material to very single mesh included in the meshfile.

thanks & ciao

if theyre existing blender objects (i.e. you are appending) then all the material and texture stuff should stay with it.

OBJ’s do not support materials to my knowledge, and i dont think blender recognises LW texture mapping anyway, so i think you’ll just have to map every object again.

I hoped that obj, would do it but this way …

well my scenes are about hundreds of those litllt tiny meshes no way in doing this by hand …

anyway thanks for the answer!

WireFX

No problem.

You could just make all the meshes one big objext in lightwave, and then export the OBJ.

That assumes that I am a lightwave user/owner which I am not
