Nooo!! What do I do? I was almost done with a project of mine, but then I accidentally saved a simple cube over it
Is there any way to recover the old/original project? If so, how?
Thanks in advance

Under the File Menu, try āRecover Last Sessionā.
This might loose your work all together (I donāt know), but it might retrieve it. Donāt do anything else in Blender until you have retrieved your work.
Yeah, I know this is after the fact advice but for next time:
Go into the User Preferences under Autosave and increment the Save Versions. That way, Blender will keep that many backup copies of .blend files.
Autosave can be helpful too as long as you set a temp file path.
if you saved something and have NOT yet turned blender offā¦
blender before has saved a quit.blend file in your tmp folderā¦ of the last thing you were working on and quit.
Hopefully if you quit while working on your project (BEFORE), you might still be able to recover it. by NOT CLOSING blender and openning the quit file in a different blender applicationā¦ or even better, renaming it!
ANOTHER OPINION (havenāt tested on recovering blend files before), depending how your harddrive is set up is using this program: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html
(I would recommand downloading it with a different computer and saving it on a floppy disk, and load it through it on your computer)
What the program does isā¦ it searches for spaces that were deleted but were not yet used in your harddriveā¦ There is a chance that blender deleted the old file and rewrote a new file under the same nameā¦ yet the space for the old file is still in tact!
