imported model doesn't have its vertex groups.

Hi. I’m using the 2.69.0/Windows and linking/proxying a rigged character.
I seem to have to jump through some hoops to get it working again, don’t know if this is normal:
-I have to proxy the mesh and the armature separately. I then have to apply an Armature modifier and relink to the proxy armature.
-I still doesn’t work because it seems that none of the mesh vertex groups arrived. Shouldn’t they come with the mesh?
(I got the model from Blendswap ‘Lowpoly man’)

When you do the linking, do it all at once and not separate. Look under Outliner / Armature for all the child in it, take note, and when you do the linking from Object folder make sure everything is included.
