Importing other objects into scene

Hi,
I hope I am posting this in the right place.
What I have is a model of a hobgoblin monster I want to use in a game I am making.
I also have an axe model that I would like to place into the monster’s hand before I get too far with rigging, but I do not know how to import it into this scene. The monster model itself and a few bones are the only things currently in the scene.
I obviously cannot choose to “open” the .blend file for the axe, else the hobgoblin will be replaced by the axe. I cannot choose to “import” the axe because the axe is a .blend file and cannot be “imported.”
Would someone please tell me how to combine models from different .blend files into the same scene?

Thanks in advance.

Exactly, well opposite. You import .blend file and then have nice way to browse all what’s in it including Objects, Materials etc. So just look for your Axe object if that’s named Axe.

OOps, my bad… That was “File >> Append” - library… :o

Hmmm… Thanks, but I am not understanding what you are saying. I can only import filetypes .obj, .3ds, .dae, .bvh, .svg, .ply, .stl, .x3d.
I am going to Files/Import and those are the only ones I can import. Nowhere does it say I can import a .blend file. If I go to Files/Open, then I can open a .blend file, but it replaces whatever scene is (was) there.
I see options to link and append under the File tab… ?
The .blend file for the hobgoblin contains ONLY the hobgoblin model and a few bones I started to place in it. The .blend file for the axe contains ONLY the axe model.
How exactly do I add the axe to the hobgoblin?

OK. I tried doing something with that, but I apparently do not know how to use that properly. What exactly (step by step, please… I get nervous when I am uncertain lol) do I need to do to make use of the File/Append?

Ha! Nevermind. I got it. Thanks alot, guy! I have been using Blender for months and never could figure that one out!
