There’s a feature list that I will eventually get too. I know, I always say that…
One user in funboard did a rather good description and requirement for snapping offset which I would like to eventually implement.
Also, a lot of the other transform methods could get snapping too, beside translation and rotation. Scale, obviously, but also Push/Pull, Shrink/Fatten, Warp, Shear.
It’s not because we can’t think of uses right away that it’s useless.
Also, it should be possible to switch between Snap and Gears during transform, having to cancel and then hit Shift-Tab is just a pain.
theres lots of limitation to the blender snapping system. Eg: see how long it takes you too position a box directly on top of another box using the snap features. You’ll have to fiddle for a long time simply because theres no way to decide were you want to snap from eg youll want to snap from the bottom face of the 2nd cube to the top face of the first cube. This is also because blender uses only uses verts for reference and not edges and faces!
This are the little thing that yern to be fixed SOOOOOOOON. Please guys!!!
sketch up has the most dreamy of snapping tools, why wount blender catch up?
In XSI there is a very good function: editing any number of objects. This is a base of a good snap system. (But I think Blender has a good snap system now.)
Am I doing something wrong or does the little magnet tool (which allows Ctrl to snap) not work when using the Proportional Edit Falloff (aka “the doughnut”)?
I can’t even get it to work the long way using the 3D cursor. Is snapping even possible with proportional editing?
Wouldn’t be hard to make it work, but you’d only be able to snap to external geometry (not in the current mesh), since those could be affected by PET and snapping to moving data is forbidden.
