I just bought a new laptop which only has a 8MB graphics card. It does have an AGP x2 though. The laptop is 900 MHz and the vid card is not expandable. Is there any way I can boost the vid graphics? Can I use the PCI slots? Prob not I’m guessing.
8mb is plenty, unless you want to play games. Some things may be slow though, I bet it isn’t the greatest hardware.
no, you can’t upgrade it. The only laptops I’ve seen that possible are alienware laptops.
More RAM couldn’t hurt.
If you are trying to play the vids back in Blender itself, try an external player… At one time it made a big difference here, although that Blender is now pretty much on par.
I am intrigued as to what role the video adapter could have in accelerating the playback of avis though. OpenGL and DirectX I can understand but avis how would it work ?
