In-game group linking.

Let’s say, I have some .blends with different vehicle setups, and some maps to ride on. It would be great to have select screen for cars and maps, that checks corresponded folders for blends and adds them to list. Just like level selector in YoFranke. But in YoFrankie only two characters, and they both always loading with level.

Is there any way to mix two scenes in game?

You could rename the files.

E.G.
Level.blend has a link to currentCar.blend with the car group.

To switch the group file

  • Rename the currentCar.blend to defaultCar.blend.
  • Rename the selected myCar.blend to currentCar.blend.
  • Reload the Level.blend

I never tried, let me know if that works.

Is there a way to rename files from blender?

Python provides you with the functions to do that. I’m not sure if this requires a full Python installation or not.
You may ask Sunjay03. He has some file operation functions in his huge library.

There is one more thing. Group linking does’t support rigid body joint.
