Incorrect mapping?

I’m trying to make a cliche still-life scene. So I made a few wood textures for a table. The map input is set on “Object” and “Flat”. And when I move the camera around and test render, the texture looks completely different. I’ll show you:

Why does the texture look like it’s scaled differently in the second image? It’s all big and nasty. Do I have it mapped incorrectly?

These two images are with the exact same settings.

Thanks

Maybe try “generated” for the mapping or UV if you want to go ahead and unwrap it.

They are different. Light is hitting the surface at different angle.

map to an object, then you can adjust the coordinates easily by rotating/scaling that object.

I guess I misunderstood the “Object” map input. I have it set to Orco now, and everything seems to be working better. Thanks!

P.S. Now I have to make a more believable wood texture…
