India Blender heads needed

(LetterRip) #1

Hi there is a large open source conference that will happen in India

http://foss.in/2005/

It would be really good to have Blender heads from India present Blender (it sounds like mostly it will be a tradeshow like booth?) - you don’t have to be officially affiliated with Blender to do so. Not sure what sort of resources will be available at the conference - probably see the above link for details. A lot of engineering and programming people are supposed to be there as well as many business people so this might pick up some more blender developers.

is there going to be a presentation ?
count me in (not totally sure though, I will conform it soon).

Rishikesh Presentation of what? Belnder I dont think so.

BTW its in Bangalore, It is basially a meeting for FLOSS people here in India.
Mostly Bangaloreans will be here, and the main topic will be geeky stuff, more so in programmin. Few biggies will be present too.

I wish I would be there although I am in Bangalore itself %|

I’ve just read the mail archives at yahoo - I think it will be a booth so you can do whatever you want. Probably just looping through a demo video showing off some of the things would be worth while and answering whatever questions you can.

The Blender Foundation might have some stuff that you could use (I’m pretty sure they have cool demo CD). If you are willing to help out I’ll make sure you have some neat stuff. At the very least a video loop showing off things like a couple of cool animations, some of the new features like fluid dynamics, particle hair, and softbodies, and maybe a quick demo video showing rigging and animation would be worthwhile.

See this page,

http://foss.in/2005/expo/foss.php

and in particular, this thread in the discussion list where they request presenters for some of the major open source projects and specifically mention Blender.

Hi,

just had some email exchanges,

Hi,
There would be machines around which would have blender installed
anyways. But we will have one PC dedicated to it anyways.
You want to do this as in at a stall or maybe as a workshop? either
& both is possible. & I would be definitely attending it :).
Adding Blender to the list -

I think they might have slightly misunderstood my email but anyway there are resources definitely available.

Now now! they added blender to the list, now what?,
I am assumig you dont really live here in India :< :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a pretty bad cold right now, but I will try to contact Atul in this regard, but I can’t really promise.

Well I didn’t tell them that a Blender head would definitely do so, only that I had just recently heard of it and would try and find blender people willing to attend to help out.

Is there an official (or unofficial) Blender India site that the above could be posted to?

Thanks,

LetterRip

dont worry I had read the link before I posted.

Mostly Bangaloreans will be here
??? !

and the main topic will be geeky stuff, more so in programmin. Few biggies will be present too.

Ahem, Being a Computer Engineer I kinda handle that geeky stuff pretty well.

Of those of you contemplating attending, are either of you interested in doing a workshop? Or would you prefer just a booth.

Let me know,

here are resources that you might want to use

Siggraph DVD
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Newsitem.607+M5c0908ba85a.0.html

Animation Festival videos
http://www.blender.org/cms/Animation_Festival_200.718.0.html

More movies
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Movies.160.0.html

Also videos such as some of the fluid dynamics and soft body dynamics would be good.

Also possibly some of the game engine demos (probably the new ones that show off the bullet engine? and perhaps some real time walk throughs)?

I’ll add more links as i dig them up.

It sounds like varuag is definitely going, garphik, if you can make it also that would be awesome. The more people the merrier. There are three days of the conference and I doubt either of you will end up wanting to stay the whole time period.

Thank you all for your efforts, it could be a big benefit to blender.
