InMoov (Vitual robot) - Question about zero_ing Rotations and preserving axes

I am using the Game_Engine with PySerial, controlling the armatures with external Potentiometers linked to an Arduino/Parallax Propeller mcu.
All works fine however I would like to Zero the rotation of the joints … and still maintain their axes, to help with alignment.
The below snapshot shows what I would like… The Red encircled rotation values I would like Zeroed ie like the Green encircled).
I have tried “ctrl A” to apply rotation … this does zero the values however it also kills the rotation along the X axes which is the one I would like to preserve.
Any Pointers on how to achieve this will be greatly appreciated. (thanks in advance)…
