I agree. That “C” key command (Cut Tool) was something I longed for. It’s just I can’t code for dear life, ktysdal to the rescue! Same feeling about Paint Select, completely replaces the dysfunctional blender-default Circle Select.
You should thank ktysdal in his thread, for both the Paint Select, and Cut Tool
Sweet, thanks mkbreuer! I’ll integrate it in.
The one Pie I’m very interested in is your GreasePencil Pie. I downloaded your pack in hopes of cannibalizing it, but did not have much success yet.
I’ll drop you a PM if I don’t manage to figure it out.
Feel free to grab anything from this setup, cannibalize as you like
the grease pencil pie menu comes with the official blender release.
It is always installed (shortcut d+q). No separate Addon!
You have to replace the original script:
blender-2.76b-windows64\2.76\scripts\startup\bl_ui\properties_grease_pencil_common.py
I have include functions from sculpttools: GreaseCut & bsurfaces: GStretch.
mkbreuer . Thanks man. Maybe because my setup is pre-Pies, I didn’t have those hotkeys in my config. When I reverted back to Factory Settings it worked. It was just a matter of adding those same lines to my config.
I’ll look to add the Grease Pencil Stroke Placement options, and the Data Source into your PieMenu as well. I hate having to reach for the TPanel > GP Tab just to change Stroke Placement: Surface (as that’s where I use GP the most). Looking forward to having all that in some tasty Pie!
Sounds great. I’ll look to submit my PieMenu once it’s ready.
The problem is I initially started editing and adding stuff to WazouPieMenus. But as that script is very large it’s quite hard to edit, at least for me (as I suck @coding). So eventually I started building all the most recent stuff in my own script. That’s the one I’ll share. The other one (WazouPieMenus - with my edits) can be accessed and cannibalized from my setup.
Quick Question: I just purchased the Hard Ops addon- https://gumroad.com/l/hardops I cant get it to work with this interface. You should be able to hit Q and access functionality- understand if this is not the place to troubleshoot- especially since you already have contributed so much with this interface.
PS: I would purchase this interface if it were for sale and would encourage continued development and support.
parel . Glad to hear this setup is working out for you
I also both Hard Ops the other day, but didn’t get a chance to try it out yet, so I don’t know of all the conflicts that it has with this setup. I will eventually resolve it, although I can’t pack HardOps with this
To the question at hand, there’s 2 solutions you can try manually before I get to fix it on my end.
You can move/disable the Q (manipulator) Pie Menu to some other key or move the key from HardOps elsewhere. Either way, the process is the same.
Easiest way of going about is through the Input Editor. File > UserPreferences (CTRL + ALT+ U) Input (Tab) > Change the “Name” drop down to “Key Biding” > in ‘Search field’ type q
…This will list all the commands that use the Q hotkey. In the list look for: 3D View Generic > Call Pie Menu (it will have Q as hotkey)
To confirm: if you expand the entry you will see “pie.manipulator”
Either uncheck the box on the left of the entry to disable, or change hotkey to something else.
Hit SAveUserSetings to apply the change for good.
By next weekend I should have this resolved in the setup.
Fantastic menus indeed!
Do you think it would be possible to have RMB menus that are dynamic like in max (ie : if you are in face mode, it will give you all the face modeling tools simply by right clicking instead of having to press ctrl+f). That would be fantastic is possible
Thanks Orange! I was able to make it work by changing the shorcut key in the User Preferences as you indicated.
I just had a super productive day- actually used Blender for work designing products. yes- the setup is definitely working for me.
-Added Campbel’s new “Select Next/Previous Item” to CTRL + and CTRL -Check the feature here.
(The old Grow/Shrink Selection is moved to + and -)
-Wazou RMB Pie got an update. The “Add SubSurf” Slice in Object Mode now adds modifier to alll selected objects with same settings to the Modifier. And “Remove SubSurf” Deletes the Modifier from all selected objects.
I love what you’re doing here! So, this is kind of a nit… but Silo did a zoom on ALT-Mousewheel. I always found their layout of ALT-L for orbit, ALT-Middle for Pan and ALT- scrollwheel for zoom really useful. ALT-R for zoom never gives me the presision that ALT-scroolwheel does for some reason…
I guess ALT Scroll is set for advancing the frame in animation for Blender? Do folks use this a lot?
And, not to be a PITA, but in Silo, double clicking an edge will automatically select the full edge loop – which is really a nice shortcut. Any chance of getting that in there?
I didn’t have any luck with the alt + mouse-wheel in or out combination. I just use the wheel in or out without any modifiers for that;
just one finger. But, I understand you.
I didn’t get anywhere on my previous attempt of the Alt + Mouse-wheel to zoom in and out, but then I realized that
this combination must be disable in the timeline first. So, disable under frames first and then tick alt box under zoom
view. I did not find any conflict with 0rAngE’s setup, but be cautious.
AN, No biggie to include it, it’d be easier for you to update. I’ll include with future updates. Although, I personally don’t use Z - if I don’t have to. I’ll use MB for HiRez texture sculpting if I have the option. I’m almost what you could classify as a hater
I’ve been constantly updating this since my latest post here. Although nothing major that would make me want to bump up this thread. But for everyone using this, just a note that it’s been updated and is worth updating on your end. A good way of knowing if it was updated or not is if you check the file size
Anyway, resolved an issue with Box Select(Add) ehre the initial click would toggle selection.
Also in Bone Edit/Pose modes, Double click to Select Linked, Arrow Up/Down is pickwalking Up/Dn hiearchy. And Shift+ Up/Dn is adding while pickwalking). This makes it a bit more consistent with Object Mode
As always, use the link in the first post for download.
I could change the Zoom to ALT+Scroll as I don’t use it for Timeline Frame Navigation (I have that mapped to Arrow L/R)
As for having the Double Click select Loop and work also with Shift modifier key - I wold love that!!!
Unfortunately I have not found a way to make it, I think it would require some heavy ass python scripting to get it. Very unfortunate, our hope is the UI team will address that.
Just a quick bump to say that i’m still going strong with this. In fact, I don’t think I could adjust to Blender without it now, and it especially helps now that I am playing with Modo and Maya a lot more.
Hey coljwood, thanks on popping by and dropping a line here. Glad to hear you are still actually using this and it’s working out for you. Always nice to hear about ppl using this.
Thought I’d just note, I’m still using Blender, and this setup is in no danger of being abendoned. Just been a bit busy lately, and in turn been a bit more quite around here.
I’ll make sure I make an update soon … I probably had some tweaks in the setup since my latest update (if nothing, at least cosmetics). I’ll post abck here when updated.
