Installing Yafray into Blender 2.5 beta.

Heya guys,

I dread to think how many times this has been asked, but i have searched and found nothing.

I’m trying to install yafray on the new beta of Blender. I’m used to using the normal versions of blender until it became really hard to follow tutorials with the different interfaces. So i updated.

So, i couldn’t find the .blender\scripts. I found it in appdata but there was no scripts, just .blender, and the “path was invalid” when i made the scripts folder myself. So i made it myself in the python\lib folder in my Username folder.

In there is just a yafaray_ui, how do i use this with the new blender?

Thanks.

I think you need to do a bit more research, it isn’t quite that simple.

Also you need to understand the 2.5 exporter is in a very alpha state. More information here:-

Please read through it before you download anything, the most recent info is at the end.

You might prefer to look on graphicall.org for recent builds with the yafaray export included. Or you could build the scene with 2.5 and append everything to 2.49 for rendering. It is better not to open 2.5 files with 2.49, appending is safer.

aah alright, thanks.

Can i have both versions installed?

What is appending?

  • i’m trying to “get in” on blender, get up to speed and understand all the processes and software things. It’s just hard when it’s such a diverse and largely distributed program.

Cheers.

Two versions of Blender? Yes, just don’t put them both in the same folder or one will overwrite the other.

Appending allows you to bring data (objects, lights, materials etc) from one .blend to another.
