Integrating Scripts into the Blender Menu

I am new to blender and programming and was trying to follow the book Blender 2.49 scripting by Michel Anders. In the first chapter, he talks about integrating scripts into the Blender menu. I wrote a simple script that creates a 3d text object that says, “Hello World!” with the following script:

#!BPY

“”"
Name: ‘HelloWorld’
Blender: 249
Group: ‘AddMesh’
Tip: ‘Create a Hello World text object’
“”"

import Blender
from Blender import Text3d, Scene, Window

hello = Text3d.New(“HelloWorld”)
hello.setText(“Hello World!”)

scn = Scene.GetCurrent()
ob = scn.objects.new(hello)

Window.RedrawAll()

I saved this script in Blender.blender.blender\scripts (though I couldn’t find this file when I navigated to the Blender folder). This is the path for the python scripts in the user settings. However, when I go to add/mesh the script does not appear in the list.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
AM

that’s probably for 2.5 not for 2.49!

so for several script example see

http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1661786#post1661786

but also look into the Add ons folder coming with 2.5

there are many example of script that you can study ad learn from

hope it helps

Great got it. thanks a lot
