Danke Jens!
Hey tungee
It works but rendertimes could need an Cluster when raydepth is > 30

Hi jensverwiebe!
First of all I want U to thaks for your job.
I was waiting for MacIntel build so long…
But I can’t apply UV mapping to mesh!
Looks like “f” key not working…
Now I`m working on Mat library, so can U help me?

Hi Yaroslav
I think you missed the fact that UV-face-select-mode is not longer a seperate mode but
now moved to the edit-mode. Just go in edit and unwrap etc. like usual.
More info here: http://www.blender.org/development/current-projects/changes-since-244/
It is far not all in my build and i have no newer one, because it does not build with actual SVN.
This is not a big problem, while the most newer features only affect internal renderer.
Be sure to read about yafaray handling of materials and textures, cause it differs from
blender-internal.
Cheers…jens
Please - help to made Frosted Glass.
Please!
I’ve been using yaf(a)ray for a few months, and I like it. Does anyone know what it’s current development situation is? There have been no updates to the SVN for some time, and nothing much going on at the yafray forums. The yaf(a)ray blender patch no longer compiles with blender SVN and hasn’t for quite a while, because it hasn’t been updated to changes in the blender code.
I’m not complaining, I think Lynx has done a great job, and if I remember correctly he’s a student so presumably quite busy anyway. I’m just wondering what’s happening.
Lynx is busy now, he is finishing university and preparing his thesis, we can do nothing about that, family and studies comes first, but we are doing other tasks in the mean time, which are
- Updating the gallery, the best artwork made in 2006 and 2007 will be in the gallery, which is one of the yafray main strenghts.
- We are going apply for Google Summer of Code. We are already getting some feedback from teachers & students interested in this program.
- There will be contest with prize this year again, righ after the F1 contest, and this year I personally would like it to be “yaf(a)ray” only, but still I have to talk with the other team members about it.
- We would like to make some changes in the project, Luis and I are talking about it right now.
- Personally I would like to improve a lot the Yaf(A)ray guide, and also I would like to make a Yaf(a)ray materials look up table.
I thought I read like 2 years ago that YafRay was
going to be built from the ground up.
Those are not the exact words but pretty close.
I think it was from either jandro, or eeshlo.
Any word on that?
Yaf(A)ray is the “built from the ground up” thing:

I love yaf(a)ray - the speed improvement over yafray alone is amazing. I’d love to be able to try it out with AAO, but can’t build it with svn which is mildly frustrating. Just have to be patient and wait for development to pick up again.
I can use 2.45 with yaf(a)ray or svn with AAO and yafray.
I’ve played lately with non-subsurfed models and found some limitations.
When you enable autosmooth, it overrides solid faces. This is different from behaviour of BI, when solid faces are still solid, even if autosmooth is on. Solid faces are the only possibility to get sharp edges and smooth surfaces in one mesh. This means, that polycount is acceptable. There is possibility to split the solid faces, or use edgesplit modifier, but this creates many unnecessary vertices and makes modelling process a bit harder with too many separate parts of mesh.
I tested it in yafaray 196, is there any possibility of restricting autosmooth effect only on smoothed faces?
I found that pictures, rendered on different OS-s looks different too!!!

Chrisr, I don’t think you’ll be able to use AAO with yaf(a)ray even if you could get it to compile with Blender SVN. AAO, as it appears in Blender, is a function of the internal renderer and it’s settings would have no effect when exporting to yaf(a)ray.
Ok - we have new 2.46 blender and 201 yaf-a-ray.
Can anybody compile it for Mac-intel Leo?
Hi
I did a new build from Yafray SVN.
Sorry for Leopard only - no chance for me atm to get it working on Tiger,
if anybody wants it, let me know - i can give compilingtips-tips.

Please read the comments i made and report bugs to the yafaray-forum.
Have fun…
Jens
Thanks!!!
Realy great thanks!!!
Location moved !!!
The faster build: http://graphicall.org/builds/builds/showbuild.php?action=show&id=664

I updated blender-exportcode + exporter.py + yafaray with newest svn.
More volumetric-stuff inside ( thanks bert )
It is optimized now out of the box ( around 15% faster )
Be sure to update all components !!!

I haven`t any problems with “alt+d” copies. Renders looks correct!
What I do wrong?
