Interior Mapping

In Cycles, is it possible to create an “interior mapping” material? The basic gist is that it uses a trick with texture mapping to fake the appearance of a three-dimensional room behind a window or door, which in turn would make an outdoor urban scene appear much more detailed without adding extra geometry to a scene.

PS: If this is doable, I’d prefer solutions that don’t require OSL, due to its slower rendering speed.
